I gave our students a survey recently to gauge what they like and dislike about our school. As the principal, I see our students as our #1 customer, so I take their input and suggestions very seriously. The last question on the survey asks students to answer, "I love my school, because..." and I want to share some of those answers with you, too!
"I love St. Patrick School, because everyone is soooo kind and welcoming!" I have to admit, this is one of my favorite things about St. Patrick, too. From the minute your child steps out of the car each day, he/she is greeted and welcomed by name and that continues throughout our building all day long. We make every effort to ensure ALL students feel seen and valued so that they feel connected to our school community!

We are so proud of our 8th grade students who led our school mass this week! Father Matthew shared a story with us about controlling our anger and frustrations, taking deep breaths, and seeing how in doing so, it changes everything else in our lives! As I mentioned before, Father Matthew asked our staff why they love teaching at a Catholic school and one teacher said:
"I love teaching at a Catholic school, because we have an opportunity to build deeper relationships with our students, families, and colleagues. We are so connected to each individual in our building and our students are connected with so many different teachers. It's something I've never experienced anywhere else!" There are many reasons why St. Patrick is such a GREAT place to work, but creating those lasting connections with our students and families is definitely at the TOP of our list! #welovecatholicschools #stpatrickschool Our 3rd, 4th, and 4th grade students impressed us last night with a little bit of drumming, a little bit of dance, and a whole lot of singing! In a patriotic tribute, we were wow'd with some of our favorite patriotic tunes! We are so proud of these students and their teacher, Mrs. Tomes, for this amazing performance! Last night, our Kindergarten, First, and Second grade students performed, "Chicken Little" under the direction of our amazing music teacher, Cynthia Tomes. The crowd was in awe of the students as they performed songs, dance, and a skit! Not only did Mrs. Tomes teach these students the performance, she hand made each costume! Recently, Father Matthew posed a question to our teachers and staff. He asked, "Why do you choose to work at St. Patrick? Why do you love working for a Catholic school?" Let's be honest, no one chooses to work at a Catholic school for the money. So what is it? What draws our teachers and staff to our school? What keeps them here year after year?
After much reflection, our teachers shared with us the reasons why they choose to work at a Catholic school, and I am going to share some of those reasons with you over the next few weeks! One teacher shared: "I love working at St. Patrick, because EVERY student has value." The teacher went on to say that at many schools, the most problematic students or the higher achieving students get the attention, but at St. Patrick, we make sure that EVERY student has value and feels valued! This is the most important thing - making sure that every child in our building feels valued and feels worthy of that value, too! One of the many reasons why we love our #catholicschool! Last weekend was one for the GIRLS! Our Middle School team battled against a challenging St. Thomas More team, and though the game didn't end the way we hoped it would, our Lady Panthers led an impressive comeback in the 4th quarter that had everyone cheering wildly from the stands! On Saturday, our 5th grade girls, partnered up with our friends at St. Gabriel, battled a challenging St. Therese team. This game was a constant defensive battle on both sides of the quart and had the crowd on the edge of our seats the entire time! In the end, we came out victorious and the City Tournament Champions!! Later on Saturday, our friends at St. Pius battled a team from Richmond, Missouri for the District Championship. The Lady Warriors, , led by two of our former St. Patrick Panthers, never stopped fighting and ended up the District Champs! It was a great weekend of competition, showing that our St. Patrick students are not only great competitors, but great sports, too. I couldn't be more proud to cheer these girls on! #girlpower This week, some of our 4th grade served as the choir and cantors, while students from our middle school classes served as lectors and servers. Fr. Matthew reminded us that coming up on the 3rd weekend of lent, we should focus on what is good and positive in our lives, rather than spending our time focusing on the negative! What a wonderful reminder, during these exhausting winter months, to look for the GOOD in our lives! At our student led mass this month, we had a first time lector, first time servers, and first time gift bearers! We're always so proud of students who volunteer to serve at weekend masses! |
