This weekend, two of our First Lego League teams competed for a chance to move on to the National competition. Our FLL program has tripled since its beginning and is a place where students learn the importance of teamwork, communication, responsibility, and hard work! I love popping into our classrooms each day, because I'm always inspired by the engaging activities our teachers have created for their students. Whether it's hands-on activities, mini-lessons, small groups, or discussions, our students are learning and growing all day long! Today I popped into Pre-K to see our students building snowmen while practicing those fine motor and shape recognition skills, sorting letters and numbers, and practicing phonemic awareness with the teacher. As always, the students were engaged in fun learning activities right at the start of the day! As I popped into classes today, I saw Middle School readers working on Summarizing and finding the Main Idea, Middle School Scientists working on equations and the Periodic Table, fourth graders finding the properties of objects, third graders learning about idioms, first graders learning how to differentiate between Main Idea and details, and second grade artists creating the most unique self portraits I've ever seen! It never ceases to amaze me how hard our teachers work to prepare engaging, hands on lessons that deepen students thinking! The PreK class at St. Patrick School is the perfect combination of hands-on learning and creative play, with daily practice and development of Kindergarten readiness skills. Our PreK students participate in the same activities as their K-8 counterparts, attending Music, PE, STEM, and Art classes, and eating lunch in the cafeteria with the Kindergarten and 1st Grade students. St. Patrick's PreK program is the perfect transitional program to ensure your child is ready for Kindergarten! One of my favorite parts of my day is when I get to pop into classrooms. I am always impressed with the engaging activities, lessons, and discussions our teachers are leading and the work our students are producing. It's not easy to be a teacher and prepare lessons that teach, engage, and inspire all day long, but the teachers at St. Patrick School are all in, all day EVERY day. I'm so grateful for this staff who shares in our mission to give kids a unique academic experience! |
