Today we celebrated our last day of school! The teachers "Chalked the Walk" outside of our school, so our students would be greeted with cheers this morning as they arrived and our entire team stood outside cheering for our students upon their arrival and received a lot of hugs, too! This has been a whirlwind of a school year, but we are grateful to each and every one of our school families. There is something special about St. Patrick School! One of our favorite days of the year...FIELD DAY...and we couldn't have asked for a better day! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for helping to make this day special for our kids. It was really the perfect day!
People often ask me why we make such a big deal out of 8th grade graduation. They think it's silly to treat 8th graders like they are graduation High School and normally, I would agree. But we have a unique experience at St. Patrick School. Many of our students start with us in PreK, so they end up being at St. Patrick School for ten years! In fact, the year I began teaching at St. Patrick School, our current 8th graders were in the PreK class with Miss Mary, so I have literally watched these kids grow up. When we celebrate our 8th grade graduation, we aren't just celebrating a successful end to their grade school years, we are celebrating the childhood that they spend in our building. Today, we introduced our 8th grade graduates to our parish community, because without the support of our parish, this amazing school wouldn't be possible! Today we bid farewell to our 2022 Eighth Grade Class! This is an amazing group of young men and women who have left big shoes of leadership for the next class to fill. We are sad to see them go, but we know they are destined for GREAT things! Sister Judy has been a staple at St. Patrick for many years. She has been a teacher, a dedicated volunteer, a mentor, and a friend to many. This summer, Sister will be moving to Leavenworth to provide some leadership, friendship, and hopefully a lot of fun to her fellow Sisters of Charity. Yesterday, we gathered together to celebrate Sister and show our appreciation for everything she has done for our school and parish!
We love you, Sister Judy! One of our favorite events of the year happened today - the annual St. Patrick Talent Show! So many of our students were brave enough to perform for us this year, and oh what a talented group! This is an exciting time for Catholic schools, because the state of Missouri finally passed legislation to create the Missouri Scholars program! MOScholars was established by the Missouri General Assembly in 2021 to provide educational opportunities and educational services to Missouri students and families. The program provides options for eligible families, allowing them to seek an array of alternative education services ranging from private schools to therapeutic education services.
This means that residents of Kansas City, MO or Liberty, MO or any city greater than 30,000 have a chance to apply for a grant for FREE tuition to St. Patrick School! If you have ever considered making the switch to Catholic school, this is the time! Click the button below to learn more or email me at kmonaghan@stpatrickkc.com for more information! |
