Starting in Kindergarten, St. Patrick Students work one grade level ahead in our Saxon math series. This means, our students are working at an advanced pace from the minute they start school - using hands on, active engagement to enhance their number sense from the beginning. As students move through our program, they have the opportunity to move up at their own pace in math. By middle school, our students have the option to test into Algebra or to receive small group extra instruction at their own personal level. At St. Patrick School, we believe in meeting kids where they are and working to improve their skill level every step oft he way.
Also at St. Patrick, we believe that number sense is the key to lifelong math understanding and ability. We believe that students should be given opportunities daily to experiment with math concepts through a variety of "real life" experiences in and out of the classroom. While practicing math facts at home is a great addition to what students are learning at school, in our younger grades we focus more on creating a true understanding of numbers and how they work in our world. Be watching in the days ahead of a glimpse inside a math classroom at St. Patrick School, so you can see our "Math Mission" in action! Check out what's happening at St. Patrick School!
