Today, these brave middle school students stood in front of their peers to persuade them to vote for them for Student Council! We are so proud of each and every one of them! There is some tough competition this year, so we will be anxious to see who is elected.

This week, we held our first Parents' Night Out event of the school year - a night of Ballroom Dancing! We were so fortunate to have two instructors from The Ballroom KC lead our families in two different dances. I have to admit, we have some pretty talented parents! We were especially grateful to our amazing PTO who brought in some delicious food and a some adult beverages, too. We also can't forget to give a big shout out to Miss Shannon and Miss Vicki for hosting FREE childcare, so our parents could relax and enjoy some socialization! I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to more Parents' Night Out events this year! Today during his homily, Father Matthew spoke of the importance of our names. He reminded us how good it feels to be called by name, and how hurtful it is to be called a mean name. He told us to remember three things: To pray about our worries, stresses, joys, and accomplishments, to call people by their name, and to never call people mean names. He also reminded us of the power of words - the good they can do AND the damage they can do. A big part of our learning experience is giving our students the opportunity to serve in as many was as possible throughout the year. One daily opportunity is allowing our students to clean up the lunch room after their lunch period. Student volunteers as young as second grade wash the tables after lunch each day. This is just one small way to give our students ownership in our school building! |
