At some point every year, I have parents contact me concerned over communication that their child has had with another child (or group) via text message, SnapChat, or whatever new thing kids are using. It's a constant battle that we face to monitor what our kids are doing on their phones and social media, and I am consistently seeking out advice on how to handle this problem each year.
Some general guidelines I have found and linked to the left are a great starting point for all parents (me included!). One thing I have learned is that you should never think "not my child". I consider my kids to be really great people who make good decisions and have good judgement, but I know that there have been plenty of times throughout their teen years where I've had to intervene in one way or another. Trust your children, yes, but never think they are immune to these problems.
Last year, we partnered with Trend Micro to provide a virtual "Family Tech Talk" Night for our families to give parents some great information about protecting their child(ren) online. Check out the video below!
